Think You Have What It Takes To Scare A Crow?
Grab some overalls, stuff a shirt, find a hat and you could be the winner of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s 1st annual scarecrow competition!
Ask your co-workers, family, friends or community group to create an original scarecrow design. All entries will be showcased on Zoo grounds from October 25th through November 2nd.
Scarecrows will be judged at “Boo! at the Zoo” on Sunday, October 26th. Come pick your favorite Scarecrow, and join the fun fall festivities which include hayrides, music and a hay maze! Winners will be announced at 3:00pm that day on the Peacock Pavilion stage in the Zoo’s Picnic Grove.
Sponsoring a scarecrow is a great way to support the Zoo and celebrate Fall!
Scarecrow Dress Package
Each scarecrow purchased ($150.00 each) includes:
- A 5 1/2' by 4' PVC frame to hold scarecrow
- Styrofoam pumpkin head to be carved
- Signage detailing corporation, community group or family name
- Four complimentary family (4) admission passes*
Scarecrow Dress
We’ll provide the pumpkin head and frame; you supply clothing, decorations, make-up and creativity!
If your group would like to keep its scarecrow, you can retrieve them November 3 – 7, 2009 during regular zoo hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) in the Casino Administrative Building.

To pay by check, please print and fill out the registration form. Completed forms should be mailed with payment to Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, 1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06610 no later than October 17th.
