Scarecrows on Parade 2017

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is proud to present our 10th Annual Scarecrow Competition!

The Zoo invites area art classes, schools, scouts and classrooms to build a scarecrow!  The Zoo provides you with the materials needed to build a scarecrow, and you provide the design elements & creativity.  Scarecrows are showcased on Zoo grounds from October 16 through 31.  Guests will vote on their favorites at Boo at the Zoo on Sunday, October 29, 2017.

Interested in creating a scarecrow (or more!) this year?  Click here to learn all about our contest, rules & criteria, and to sign-up.  E-mail Amanda at with any questions or completed registration forms.

A “Not So Scary” Sponsorship Opportunity!

Sponsoring a scarecrow is a wonderful way to support youth, arts, the environment, and the community!

Your $250 sponsorship will provide the materials necessary for a local classroom or program to design and enter a scarecrow into the Zoo’s 10th Annual Scarecrow Competition.  Sponsors like you allow us to continue showcasing our local talent!  All sponsors receive recognition on our website & e-newsletter (17,000+), signage at your scarecrow, and two Family Four pack admission tickets to the Zoo.  Sponsorships are fully tax-deductible!  More details can be found on our registration form.  To become a scarecrow sponsor, click here.

Thank You to our 2017 Scarecrow Sponsors!
