MEET THE LEADERSHIP:
Beardsley Bart
Founder & Burrow Chief (CEO: Chief Excavation Officer) Bart is the face and paws of Prairie Inc. Always the first to pop up and greet visitors, he keeps the team focused on digging deep and thinking big. Bart’s leadership style is inspired by prairie dogs’ real-life teamwork and communication. Before launching his career in leadership and business, Bart made headlines as the Zoo’s Prognostic Prairie Dog, stepping into the spotlight each February to predict the arrival of spring during the Zoo’s annual Groundhog Day celebration. His accurate forecasts quickly made him a crowd favorite and a natural fit for public appearances. Now, Bart leads with the same values that make prairie dogs such powerful collaborators in the wild: communication, community, and conservation. Whether he’s popping up to greet guests at the Zoo or sitting on shoulders at statewide leadership events, Bart uses his platform to dig into education, and empowerment. |
Our Habitat
Thanks to generous donor support, the Prairie Dog habitat recently received a thoughtful spruce-up—making it more engaging for guests and more accessible for everyone. From improved sightlines to inclusive viewing areas, this upgrade helps connect even more people to the playful world of prairie dogs.
