INAUGURATION CEREMONY SET FOR DECEMBER 4TH AT 11:00AM BRIDGEPORT, CT – Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is proud to announce that Logan the Amazon River Turtle has been elected as the Zoo’s 2025 Mayor! Known for his calm demeanor and steadfast nature, Logan’s campaign promise to “Shell Out Real Solutions “captured the hearts of voters. The 2026 race featured four other spirited contenders: Fiona the Maned Wolf, Rose the Dexter Cow, King the Chinese Goral, and Chunk the Tiger Salamander, each bringing their own unique charm and platforms to the campaign trail. After a lively contest and votes cast by Zoo visitors and supporters, Logan emerged as the clear winner, earning the honor of leading the Zoo’s “cabinet of creatures” for the next year. As the second-place finisher, Fiona the Maned Wolf will serve as Deputy Mayor, stepping in to assist Logan during his term as needed. “Logan’s win proves that slow and steady really does win the race,” said Dr. Jim Wharton, CEO of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. “Logan’s quiet determination and thoughtful leadership reflect exactly the kind of ambassador our Zoo needs. I know his calm confidence and steady presence will make 2026 a truly inspiring year for the Zoo.” To officially welcome the new Mayor, Logan’s Inauguration Ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m., in the zoo’s Rainforest Building. The public is invited to attend and shell-ebrate the swearing-in of the Zoo’s new leader. For more information about the Zoo, visiting hours, and upcoming events, please visit www.beardsleyzoo.org. (BRIDGEPORT, CT) A new collaboration is on tap as the zoo once again join forces with Foolproof Brewing Company to release Beardsley Brew 2. This year’s limited-edition beer is a crisp Japanese-style rice lager that pairs local craftsmanship with a passion for wildlife conservation. Following the success of the original Beardsley Brew, this flight brings together two Bridgeport favorites for a beer that truly gives back. The limited-edition label features a striking hand-sketched red panda by Connecticut artist Joey Visco, honoring one of the Zoo’s most beloved species. Playful and curious, red pandas are a guest favorite at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo and serve as ambassadors for endangered wildlife around the world. “This collaboration is such a great example of what happens when community and conservation come together,” said Dr. Jim Wharton, CEO of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. “Every can represents the passion of our partners, the dedication of our Zoo family, and our extended family of supporters who believe in protecting wildlife. We’re proud to raise a glass with Foolproof Brewing and invite the community to join us!” |
