Physical Description: The Peppered Cockroach is aptly named for the tan, speckled colors going down their body. Their body is relatively flat and oval, with a base tan color. They have a darker mark located on the anterior region of the thorax, with wings that lie over their body. Like all insects, the Peppered Cockroach has 3 sets of legs, or 6 total, to help them move and climb.
Habitat: The Peppered Cockroach lives in tropical rainforests with high humidity. They live among the vegetation on the forest floor.
Range: Topical areas of Central and South America such as Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica2.
Diet: They are detritivores. This means that they eat decaying plant and animal matter.
Life Span: They live 1 to 2 years.
Social Structure: Peppered Cockroaches live in small colonies which provides safety benefits.
