Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Arboretum Awarded Level 1 Accreditation By ArbNet Accreditation Program2/14/2024
 BRIDGEPORT, CT (February 15, 2024) – Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Arboretum in Bridgeport has been awarded a Level 1 Accreditation by The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum, for achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens. The ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program is the only global initiative to officially recognize arboreta at various levels of development, capacity, and professionalism. Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Arboretum is also now recognized as an accredited arboretum in the Morton Register of Arboreta, a database of the world’s arboreta and gardens dedicated to woody plants.
 BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – February 5, 2024 – Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s popular summer children’s program, Zoo Patrol, is back for 2024. Registration is open for seven week-long sessions covering dates from July 1 through August 16. There are three sessions for children ages 7-10, and three sessions for children ages 11-13.
Jim Knox, the Zoo’s curator of education and father of three ‘Zoo Patrollers,’ said, "The Zoo Patrol experience is a program like no other which brings the wonder of the wild world into the hearts and minds of young children. My three kids were so excited about their time in Zoo Patrol.  Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s Prairie Dog Forecaster Says Spring is Coming
BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut – February 2, 2023 - No need for Phil from distant lands, Connecticut's own seer understands. Beardsley Bart, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s Prognosticating Prairie Dog shared his weather forecast with a small gathering of his friends early this morning. Attendees included Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim who read the proclamation. Mayor Ganim shared, “Beardsley Bart has spoken, and spring is coming to Bridgeport!” He emphasized the impact Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo has on the community. “Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is the only zoo in the state, and we are proud to have such a great resource right here in Bridgeport.” |
